I’ve been designing interiors since 1995 but in 2005 I Founded SHIVHON rugs. We are a source for handmade rugs from Nepal and India. I work closely with architects, interior designers, home owners and hotels. My rug workrooms are the finest Nepalese and Indian producers of handmade rugs, mills that preserve the tradition of a centuries old art. Pure wool and silk is hand-carded, hand-spun, and pot-dyed then hand-knotted or tufted on a traditional loom to produce a rug with a unique luster and durability. Not only do I offer an extensive collection of rug patterns to choose from, but I am known for producing custom patterns, colors and sizes for my customers’ projects.

My mission is to provide the market with fine natural handmade area rugs at fair trade pricing while supporting my wonderful community of weavers and respecting the environment.

My designs rarely reflect the latest trends. Rather with passion and focus I choose a more thoughtful approach to our designs, paying attention to details and working with natural fibers. I respect the natural environment and seek to create products that exude comfort, harmony, and an understated elegance.

All of my rugs are handmade, and require no machinery to be assembled. The fibers are combed and spun by hand and are made from all natural products that come from animal and plant fibers. These fibers are generally Tibetan wool, New Zealand wool, silk, viscose, linen, and hemp. These natural fibers are beneficial for the environment in that they are biodegradable, renewable, sustainable, non-allergenic, and naturally stain-resistant and air purifying.
