I was very lucky to participate in a retreat in Toscana, organized by Shirley. The entire experience was magical from beginning to end: The location chosen was breath taking, luxurious and serene. The agenda included two Yoga classes every day specifically structured for our group. We had a cooking class and a trip to Siena as well as private time for relaxing. Flawless organization, excellent food and stunning location. What more could anyone ask for?

I recently went to one of these yoga retreats in the beautiful Tuscan countryside. Everything about the retreat was perfect. Shirley is a wonderful yoga teacher who understands the different needs of all individuals. I had never done yoga before and she provided some alternative poses for me which I could practice whilst those more experienced could practice some more advanced poses. We had two sessions a day including some meditation sessions which I really enjoyed. The place that we stayed in was a beautiful Tuscan restored farmhouse with the most incredible views of the countryside. Not only this, but the food we ate was prepared by the most talented chef. Everything was wonderfully prepared and very yummy (as well as healthy!) I would definitely recommend going on one of these yoga retreats even if you’re a beginner- I am and still really enjoyed myself and had a lovely relaxing time in the countryside with the sweetest ladies.

“I didn’t quite know what to expect when I signed up for the Tuscan yoga retreat. The pictures on the flyer made me think I was going to a beautiful place and that two yoga classes would be offered daily, and that there would be some optional sightseeing. But when I got to the Villa I was just amazed by all of it. Iesolana is such a beautiful place, the owners and staff are so accommodating and friendly and the food, well, I have never had such beautiful and tasty and yet healthy food. And the wine and the olive oil and the honey that is all made on the property? Incredible. There was a lot of diversity of ages and backgrounds of the people on the retreat, but everyone was interesting and funny and we had such great times together. The “off campus” excursions were wonderful (it’s an exceptionally lovely area with lots of history) for those of us who wanted to explore, but some never left the villa and I completely understand why. There was a perfect combination of structure and flexibility, Shirley Shivhon did a great job of making everyone feel at home, down to our little welcome gifts! Somehow in the middle of all of this recreation I deepened my practice and had a bit of a meditation break through. And after all of the classes, especially the daily Yin class, I left the retreat feeling like Gumby. Can’t recommend this experience too highly and have already committed to going back!”
An exquisite place on earth. I will certainly return to these beautiful Tuscan hills to walk past the wheat fields, olive and fruit groves and vineyards that surround Iesolana. Incredible views you can’t help but be still and take it all in. The food, the olive oil, the wine and the service is something to remember with a smile.
